Analyst Experience

While no two weeks in HCCG are the same, each week provides unique opportunities for professional development, social events, and having fun. New analysts participate in client calls, attend training and recruiting workshops, conduct primary and secondary research, and bond with each other over meals, concerts, and other fun events on HCCG’s dime. Read below to learn more about what a typical week in the life of an analyst is like.

SUN

Attend weekly client call to check in with your client and discuss the past week’s research and next directions. Following client call, have case team meeting with your six-person team, which typically consists of a case team leader, two associates, and two other analysts, whom you get to know and work closely with throughout the course of the semester.

MON – FRI

Work on the week’s casework, which often follows from the week’s client call and case team meeting discussions. Casework commonly consists of primary and/or secondary research and producing slides. Each week, you will be diving deeply into a specific area that falls under the overarching business problem presented by the client. You might be performing quantitative research on the size of a growing market or assessing competitors within a particular space.

WED

Enjoy some fresh Poke for lunch while learning Excel tips and tricks! HCCG hosts bi-weekly workshops to boost members’ skills in a variety of areas, from public speaking to data visualization and beyond. You might also attend office hours which are held weekly to ask any questions you might have or to continue your casework. There might also be a recruitment event, such as an information and networking session with a BCG recruiter. Finally, there will be many chances to hang out with board and people outside your case team at study breaks and other social events.

FRI

Watch a live Celtics game together with 12 other HCCG members, covered under HCCG’s series of bonding events fondly known as “Takes Boston.” Events range from concerts, to food-tasting, to go-karting, and more!
